An atlas of deep time
Earth, life & us.
One planet. Billions of years. Countless stories.
Travel from a world taking shape to the world we share.
Follow the story
Milestones are evenly spaced. Distances do not represent elapsed time.

What the past leaves behind
Real specimens. Surviving objects.
Each with a story of its own.
A note on perspective
A timeline is a map,
not the whole territory.
This is a selective, global overview of Earth and human history. Dates describe the evidence we have, not always the first moment something happened. “BCE” and “CE” use the same year numbering as “BC” and “AD”; there is no year zero.
Deep-time dates are approximate. Evolution is a branching process, not a ladder toward humans. Early human species often overlapped. Religious figures appear alongside other people and developments; traditional narratives and debated dates are identified rather than presented as established chronology.
Story view gives each milestone room. True scale uses proportional time within the selected window; nearby events can cluster. Date ranges use approximate anchor points for navigation, not exact moments of origin. Photographs show present-day specimens, artifacts, or landscapes unless noted. Illustrative diagrams are labeled and are not reconstructions of exact ancient geography.
